In today's article we will talk about the subject of flooring! We currently have a wide range of flooring manufacturers on the market, including variants in which the floor will be made. In the apartment, we can have a floor panel, parquet, and a cork floor. Before we decide on specific solutions, it is worth considering not only the budget available and the planned interior design, but above all the functionality. The choice of the floor is greatly influenced by the purpose of the room, the number of people who will usually use it, the presence of four-legged household members, as well as the planned installation of underfloor heating.

Installation of floors requires not only considerable financial expenditure, but also radical changes and removal of all furniture from the rooms. For this reason, it is better to choose a floor in advance, which will not wear out in a few years of normal use, but we will serve even a few decades. Extremely long durability is characterized by wooden floors - classic parquet, floor boards, wooden panels. Surfaces of this type can last up to 100 years! Floor panels made of wood-based materials are less durable. If we decide on a wooden floor, we will have to choose wood grades of different hardness - they should be chosen depending on the room's intended purpose. Class II timber (eg maple or pine) is sufficient for adult bedrooms. A greater degree of hardness of wood will be useful where the floor is more exposed to scratches or dents, and so in the rooms through which a lot of people pass, where children play or stay.

When choosing floor panels, we should be guided by their usability and abrasiveness class. The second parameter worth paying attention to is the panel abrasion class.

Wooden floors are famous for their longevity, but also vulnerable to atmospheric factors. The traditional wooden parquet can easily survive for several dozen years, but due to the natural process of graying, warping of wood and the formation of cracks, it requires regular maintenance, and sometimes also scraping. They are carried out depending on the degree of parquet wear - once every five, but sometimes even twenty or thirty years. More resistant to damage and less demanding in terms of maintenance is the so-called new generation parquet (otherwise referred to as wood panels or finish parquet). Its maintenance does not require so much work, it can also be scraped, but usually less often than the classic parquet - manufacturers determine how many times you can do the scraping. The easiest to clean and the most comfortable to maintain are floor panels. However, in the event of their destruction, we must take into account the need to completely replace the floor. In this respect wooden floors have a decisive advantage, which can be easily renovated both at individual points and on their entire surface.

If you want to avoid cold tiles in the bathroom or kitchen arrangement, you can choose to use parquet from moisture-resistant wood, waterproof panels or a wooden floor with cork. This is a good solution for small apartments where you want to get a consistent interior design and, for example, put the same floor throughout the living room with a kitchenette. In addition, wooden floors and panels are warmer than the traditionally used terracotta, so even walking barefoot, we are not cold. We obtain a waterproof floor by using one of the non-reacting wood species. These include mainly exotic woods. Oak wood can be recommended from domestic products, although unlike wc: merbau, teak, sapella and sage, it requires systematic preservation and impregnation. Similarly, a cork floor to become waterproof must be impregnated. If we care about its appearance more than using natural wood, let's decide on water-resistant waterproof floor panels. This solution will also free us from troublesome maintenance.

Although wood is a flammable material and at first seems unsuitable for connection with a heating system, proper installation, adequate choice of floor type and wood type ensure safety of use and no damage. Designing a floor heating system, as well as the selection of materials and their parameters, it is best to consult a specialist. Here are some tips to keep in mind: in the case of a wooden floor, water-based floor heating (but not electric) can be used to avoid deformation of boards, we choose a wood species characterized by a low coefficient of shrinkage and swelling: oak, merbau, iroko, twisted bamboo it is better to choose multilayer boards with chamfered edges than those made of solid wood do not forget about the appropriate assembly: the floor underlay should be adequately warmed, also divide the floor heating surface into sectors, apply the right dilatation profile and stick the floor to the underlay with an adhesive containing few solvents

Having the right hardwood floor installed in a home requires a great deal of investment both financially and in terms of the removal of furniture necessary to complete the project. Still, hardwood flooring can last an impressive century and is a great choice. The usual choice is to use hardwood, such as parquet, planks, or panels and to choose the type of wood based on the function of the room. Hardwood is graded based on its hardness--class II wood (pine or maple) is ideal for bedrooms and more resistant and less prone to scratches or dents is appropriate for rooms with high traffic. Wooden floors do have a significant durability but can be subject to fading and warping thus, regular maintenance is required. Traditional parquet needs to be refinished and scraped every five to thirty years, depending on wear and tear. Meanwhile, for modern finish parquet done by professionals, refinishing will be done less frequently. Floor panels are easier to clean and are less work to maintain overall but have to be replaced in case of damage. Wooden floors, on the other hand, can be easily refinished by swapping out pieces in an area or even a complete refinishing of the entire surface. One way to avoid cold tile surfaces in the kitchen or bathrooms is to use moisture resistant hardwood or a wooden floor with cork. This is great for smaller apartments where the same surface can be used throughout the living space. For waterproof solutions, alternatives such as teak, sapella, or sage-reactive wood species should be used. Oak is also a great solution but requires regular maintenance and preservation to keep it waterproof. Similarly, cork floors require impregnating to stay waterproof and preserve their appearance. If you want a waterproof floor without the hassle of preservation and maintenance, waterproof panels are a great solution.
